An Evening of Chamber Music

To the anniversary of Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975)

The State Trio of the Republic of Kazakhstan FORTE TRIO of the State Concert Organization “Qazaqconcert” of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan will present an evening of chamber music “To the anniversary of Dmitri Shostakovich” in the Kulyash Baiseitova Chamber Hall in the Astana Opera House.

All the FORTE TRIO musicians are famous instrumentalists and prizewinners of international competitions. Artistic Director of the ensemble – Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Timur Urmancheyev.

FORTE TRIO continues to bring joy to fans of instrumental music with their performances. In the new programme, they will present Dmitri Shostakovich's piano trios.

Dmitri Shostakovich is a composer who can be considered one of the symbols of the twentieth century; his contribution to the development of world musical culture is beyond doubt. The Shostakovich phenomenon began to take shape already in his conservatory years, when his first original works deservedly attracted attention, and since then new ones have always aroused keen interest.

The evening will open with the First Trio in C minor – a work that refers to the youthful period of Shostakovich's work, and was never published during the composer's life. Its existence became known only at the end of the 80s of the last century. The trio was written in 1923 by a seventeen-year-old composer and draws heavily on the musical traditions of late romanticism.

The Second Trio of Dmitri Shostakovich, dedicated to the memory of the renowned musicologist and close friend of Shostakovich Ivan Sollertinsky, was created in 1944 – this is one of the most tragic pages of the composer's work. The war took the lives of many of his friends and colleagues, and the Trio became a kind of requiem for all those who died.
